There's nothing like walking into the house and feeling that aroma of freshly baked pie; it instantly makes you feel at home.
A homemade blueberry pie to evoke the joy of family or friends gatherings. This classic dessert combines sweet, juicy blueberries with a flaky, buttery crust, creating a delightful treat that’s perfect for any occasion. This blueberry pie is sure to impress.

INGREDIENTS:

Serves 5+

For the dough

2 ½ cups All purpose flour
1 Teaspoon of salt
½ Cup lard
¼ Cup of unsalted butter
1 Tablespoon of granulated sugar
160 ml of cold water

Filling

25 ounces (700 g)  Blueberries
1 liquid ounce Lemon juice
1 cup of sugar
50 g Cornstarch
Lemon zest
1 egg

SUPPLIES:

2-3 lb of Lump charcoal
High-Temperature Gloves
Keveri cutting board

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1:

In a bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar.

Step 2:

Dice the cold butter and the lard into small pieces and add them to the bowl with the dry ingredients. Start breaking up the lard and butter into tiny, flour-coated pieces with your hands. Continue mixing until you have a crumbly texture.

Step 3:

Add the water and continue mixing until you have a combined dough.

Step 4:

Divide the dough into 2 balls and roll it out with a rolling pin until you have the size for the pie pan.

Step 5:

Transfer the dough to the pie pan and leave it in the fridge for at least 2 hours. You can make the dough a day in advance.
For the top crust of the pie, cut strips along the dough in the shape of rectangles. Leave it in the fridge as well.

Step 6:

Fire up the H1 in Classic Grill Mode at 375°F according to the manual instructions or the Masterclass video.

Step 7:

Making the filling:

Mix the cornstarch and sugar in a bowl. Add the blueberries and lemon zest. Mix it all.
Pour the lemon juice and combine all the ingredients.

Step 8:

Take the filling and transfer it to the pie pan, make the top crust with the strips, and you can make the shape of a basket.

Step 9:

Make some egg wash, mix 1 egg and some milk, and brush the top crust.

Step 10:

Place into the H1 for about 1 hour, or until the crust is brown and the filling is bubbling.

Step 11:

Take it out of the H1, leave it to rest and cool it off for at least 2 hours or until it’s completely cold after serving.

 Cook's Notes:

Who doesn’t love eating pie?! You can change the filling for different fruits according to your current season. Here are some ideas: peach, cherry, apple, etc!
Extra tip: try serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s simply delicious!
